USB sticks no bargain

03.09.09

Generic USB memory sticks not always a bargain Generic USB sticks are often not worth buying mainly because they often take so long to record data, the German computer magazine Computer Bild reported recently.

A test of 43 USB memory sticks with eight to 16 gigabytes (GB) of storage space, showed thatthe five generic sticks, all purchased online, were

significantly lacking in speed and had no particular price benefits.

The winner of the test was the TDK Trans-IT Mini (16 GB), which costs 40 euros (52 dollars). The Trans-IT can save up to 15 GB of MP3 files within 20 minutes. The slower Maxell Xtreme (16 GB, 24 euros) needed 110 minutes for the same job.

The Verbatim Retractable Blue won the 8 GB category. At 14 euros, it was also one of the more affordable sticks.

Manufacturers said the difference in transcription was due to the use of cheaper memory chips in some sticks, which require more time to record data.

All tested sticks proved resistant to moisture, heat, cold, shocks and vibrations.l

Samsungs 1.5TB hdd

03.07.09

Samsung 1.5 TB EcoGreen F2EG HDD Launched Samsung Electronics has launched its new EcoGreen F2EG hard disk, which comes with a huge capacity of 1.5 TB with 500 GB per disk.

Apt for both external hard disks and desktop PC, the new hard disk drive is a highly energy-efficient and delivers superb performance with various power saving technologies implanted into it.

Andy Higginbotham, director of HDD sales and

marketing for the Samsung Semiconductor Storage Division, said, “Lower platter count means less power to start the motor, less power to continuously spin the motor and a lighter head-stack which takes less power to seek.”

“With fewer heads and disks, the F2EG hard drive has a lower probability of head-disk failures, enabling customers to build more reliable systems,” Andy added.

The drive employs Samsung’s very own EcoTriangle technology, which guarantees low-power consumption, low-heat and low-noise operation.

Moreover, the disk claims to use 40% less power in idle mode and 45% less while reading/writing as compared to other drives of similar capacity.

The hard drive is compliant with European Unions’s RoHS (Restriction of the Use of Certain Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Equipment Regulations) and many other environmental regulations.

The PMR technology equips the disk with superior aerial density and better transfer performance.

Other highlights of the F2EG are 500GB/1TB/1.5TB capacity, 16MB/32MB buffer memory, and 3.0 gigabytes per second (Gbps) Serial Advanced Technology Attachment (SATA) interface.

The 1.5 TB Samsung EcoGreen F2EG HDD, which is also available in the capacities of 500 GB and 1 TB, is priced at $149.

Movies Online

03.06.09

The craziest thing in this world is media. When it comes to kids and many others entertainment plays an important role. If we rare prone to the internet lot of people download the movies and watch it. There are a lot of sites for downloading movie database.
Movies Planet is a little bit different option when it comes to watching movies and TV shows online.  The site is built solidly around a social structure, and incorporates a lot of possiblities beyond simply watching free movies.
The site help you in different ways to browse. A few of them are user recommendations, your own ratings, and the whole thing integrates their forum, with private messaging system,  into just about every aspect of interacting with the site.  The My Zone page lists your personal collections, friends, favorites, links, and more.  The Movies page offers you Movies Planet’s own magazine format, where you can get movie news, and browse films by popularity or genre.  It’s all put together to offer a creative and unique online vehicle to watch movies. It also helps you to learn watching movies online.
It’s a pretty fun site, and its most compelling feature is the interaction with other users.  You can browse through user lists and easily find people with similar tastes.  Find new shows to watch in a few clicks, and connect with other movie fans.  In a variety of ways, the interface is pretty clever, offering good suggestions on what you might want to check out based on where you are at the time.
The page for any given movie will offer up a variety of links to find out more about the film.  Actor biographies are available, as well as movie trivia, quotes, mistakes, and links to official sites, etc.  You also generally have links to a variety of places to watch trailers.  It’s a pretty handy collection of possibilities in one place if you’re looking to watch movies
I recommend taking a look at the site.  It’s a very nice effort at “one-stop shopping” for deciding what to watch, and having industry news tied in with user recommendations.  Put things together with chat, forums, IM, polls, and a variety of other ways to create your own corner of the movie and television universe, and the site is really pretty clever.
Of course, the whole crux of such an idea is that there be plenty of other users.  That’s something I’ve really tried to check out since I first heard about this site a few months ago.  They are at well over 200,000 members as I write this, and I have rarely gone to the site and seen less than 400 members online.  The interaction and connection possibilities seem to really be there.
